Tree Felling

Felling a tree is the practice of cutting a tree down in a professional and safe manner. Where conditions allow this can be done safely in three cuts from the bottom “Straight Fell” Or in tight spaces where care is needed, trees will be dropped or lowered in small pieces “Section Fell”. Section felling will be used in situations where there is a risk of damage occurring to any property or harm to the public. Section Felling can be done in several different ways using many different techniques, each tree presents new and unique obstacles and there is no substitute to experience when carrying out this potentially dangerous activity.

These procedures should always be fulfilled by a qualified arborist also known as a Feller… and that’s where we got our name!

Crown Lifting

Crown Lifting is the method of increasing the clear space and light below the foliage of a tree. This is often required when the space under a tree is used for access or to increase light to flower beds and gardens etc. Crown Lifting involves the selective removal of the lower branches and the trimming of other remaining branches to reduce their weight and allow them to lift up naturally, whilst taking care you maintain an even shape and balance to the tree.

Pollarding

Pollarding is a method of pruning that keeps trees and shrubs smaller than they would naturally grow. It is normally started once a tree or shrub reaches a certain height, and regular pollarding is a long term management plan for maintaining the size of your tree. It is worth noting that this practice is better suited to some species of tree more than others, also the time of year is something to consider when carrying out this work.

Stump Grinding

Stump Grinding is an optional last stage for permanent tree removal. After trees have been removed, you will be left with a ground level stump. If this is not an issue for you, it can be left in the ground but may cause problems in the future. Stump Grinding removes the upper section of the root ball, taking it sufficiently below ground level to allow for the reinstatement of lawns etc.

Crown Thinning

Crown thinning is a technique used to allow more light to pass through the tree and reduces wind resistance, making the tree stronger in adverse weather conditions. Crown thinning should only be done by qualified tree surgeon with the necessary experience to preserve the shape of the tree. When done correctly, Crown thinning also reduces the weight of each limb and makes the tree healthier and stronger.

Crown Reductions

Crown reduction is one of the common techniques used today in pruning trees. This is where you cut the foliage from the outer edge into the crown, reducing the overall shape and size of the tree in-order-to preserve its shape, and a size more suited to its surroundings. This is a complex job even for trained tree surgeons and getting a good result is something that comes with experience.

Dried Firewood (Logs)

We have purpose built log sheds allowing us to split and season firewood. We only deliver wood suitable for burning. Our wood is sold by the cubic meter and not by weight. Our prices start at £60.

Emergency Work

Trees often fall without any warning. This can be due to storms & high winds, as a result of neglect, or simply as an act of nature. Our team of expert tree surgeons are here to respond to these emergencies. Our team will deal with the fallen tree quickly and efficiently, cutting the tree into more manageable sections and clearing the effected site. We promise to respond to any emergency tree situation as soon as we can.
